Affirmation for the Week: “I welcome changes and I will use my tools of self-discipline, focus, and enthusiasm to create a better life for myself and my world>”"New Year - New Ways & New Thinking"
I received and email from a dear friend and colleague of mine. That had some of this content in this blog. I read the email and felt that there was a lot left out and embellished on what I thought should have been said in the email. The beginning of each year brings the opportunity for planned personal or professional change. The challenge to those who want to improve aspects of your life is to have clarity, stay the course, celebrate each day that actions are taken in furtherance of your goals, and have the courage to make course corrections when our change methods are not working.
If we are clear in what we want, there is a greater likelihood of success. I suggest that you do a Net-worth sheet each month and make it a goal to improve your Net-Worth (See attached Example of a Net worth statement). If we have the courage to put the goals in writing (which is one of the most important steps in changing) and the self-discipline to stay, the course even when the excitement and enthusiasm wears off-our success is more assured. Here is a simple goal sheet. but I recommend reading and doing Jack Canfield book and workbook, “The Success Principles”. We need to recognize our old ways of thinking and implement new ways of visually seeing what we want and us having it, and focus on what we want several times a day. We need to be thankful and grateful for what we have and what we want in the future. The more gratefully we fix our minds on the Supreme when good things come to us, the more good things we will receive, and the more rapidly they will come; and the reason simply is that the mental attitude of gratitude draws the mind into closer touch with the source from which the blessings come. Become aware of your thoughts, actions, and be aware of all you’re spending and your time, money, and thoughts on. Watch how you talk about your present situation, yourself, and your life. If you shift it to only talk about the positive things you are working towards (your goals) you will start moving forward. If you shift towards gratitude, it will lead your mind out along the ways by which things come; and it will keep you in close harmony with creative thought and prevent you from falling into competitive thought. You need to feel the emotions of being at your goal and be grateful. The emotions are the key to shifting your awareness in your sub-conscious mind. The law of gratitude is the natural principle that action and reaction are always equal, and in opposite directions. The grateful outreaching of your mind in thankful praise to the Supreme is a liberation or expenditure of force; it cannot fail to reach that to which it addressed, and the reaction is an instantaneous movement towards you.”
What is the secret to goal achievements? Why do some people succeed where others falter? Why so some people seem so confident in their ability to get what they want? The secret is that there is no secret. The success factor depends not upon one's circumstances but upon what one is willing to do in the circumstances. Have you even written out a plan of action? Remember you will not see the whole picture all at once, you will see just the first step. Take a leap of faith and take that first step, and then you will see the next step. Your life will unfold before you and everything that you are grateful for will start to appear if you stay focused on it. It might not happen overnight, so don’t give up just keep at it. Commit yourself to your goals and visualize daily what you would do if you did get your goals, visualize what you would feel like when you achieved your goals. How does it feel? How does it sound? How does everyone react around you? What will you do when you get your goals? Once you really are close to your goal then think of the next goal. Don’t forget after achieving your goal to make another goal or you will just sit there and be stagnant in life. Educate yourself as much as you can. Read everything you can about your passion and goal. Think of passive income and list three strategies that you can make passive income.
The people who succeed while facing small or large obstacles are those who become engaged and emotionally invested in their goals. Remember you are bigger then your problems. Rich people focus on the goal not the problem and become a financial warrior. When you have an obstacle or problem, you need to write down 10 actions to solve the problem, and then take action. Successful people focus like a laser beam upon their desires and plan of actions. They are persistent, even when faced with obstacles, and they continue to maintain a "can-do attitude." Do not complain and try to do this all the time. Do not hang out with complainers, you need to seek out positive and goal driven people. Seek people that have already achieved your goals to be your mentors.
The biggest obstacle that each of us face is our own lack of self-discipline. In some cases, I even think we lack self-esteem and self worth. We don’t believe in ourselves to even invest or take that first leap of faith (the first step). We can find many other things to do rather than work on our self-improvement plan. Why is that? When we lack the self-discipline, it is often because we really don't want to achieve a particular goal, at least not enough to fight the inertia that we inevitably experience. Let’s face it many people don’t want to do what it takes to become a Millionaire, because it will take discipline, focus, and lots of planning, and most of all hard work. Remember Rich people are paid basted on results and poor people are paid basted on time. Rich people believe they can have their cake and eat too. Poor believe they can have a donut and focus on the hole and wonder why they nothing. When the excitement of setting goals has worn off and the true work begins, we may find our enthusiasm has waned also. It takes self-discipline to keep our enthusiastic mind-set turned on and turned up. A true, genuine, and heartfelt desire for a particular change in our lives is of paramount importance; otherwise, a goal becomes merely a wish because of emotional, physical and mental laziness. Rich people are inspired by fear and poor people let fear stop them. Next time you feel Uncomfortable in a situation, you need to recognize you are just learning and it will pass. To grow yourself to your full you should always feel uncomfortable. Everyone has a desire in their heart and that desire is a seed. You need to ask yourself if you held that seed, “What are you holding?” You are holding the potential for something else. If you are holding a seed of a tree, it can grow a tree, but it has the potential of much more then that. Over time, it has the potential of an entire forest. Do you know if that seed was in the right environment that it would not have to work to grow into a tree, it just does it. The desire in your heart is a seed and it has the potential locked up for your life right inside of it.
The question for the week for those who are contemplating or planning changes is or already have setup their goals, "Why do I want this change and how will it improve my life?" Visually see yourself there! J
